PLC LAYOUT

The Idec FA-2J PLC is mounted in a horizontal format with the CPU located at the left side of the enclosure.

1. Module #1 would be the 24 Volt D.C. Input Module, PFJ-N162U - 16 Point Sink Input, which is located to the right of the CPU and has a green label on the face of the module. Input 0 is closest to the CPU. The PLC utilizes an octal-based numbering system for I/O and Internal Relays. Therefore, Inputs 0 to 7 are closest to the CPU and 10 to 17 are on the same module but are furthest from the CPU.

2. The first Output Module is located below the 16 Point Input Module. The Red Label on the face of the module can identify the output modules. The first output module is located in the bottom CPU slot which is referred as Module #2 and the outputs are addressed from 200 to 207. The Plug-in Relays can be removed by lifting up the plastic cover and removing the relays individually. Supply voltage is provided to one side of the relay and the opposite side of the relay is the load voltage side. The load side will have voltage when the Red LED for that Output address is on.

3. Module #3 is next to the 16 Point Input Module, which is usually the Analog Input Module, PFJ-N013AU. This module requires 24 Volt D.C. power. The Temperature/Humidity Sensor provides a 4 to 20 milliamp current signal to this module. Two of the PLC Outputs are used to switch every 30 seconds between reading Temperature and Humidity. Only one of these analog signals is connected to the Analog Input Module at any one time. The PLC program controls this automatic sequencing.

4. Module #4 is to the right of the first Relay Output Module and would be addressed from 210 to 217.

5. Module #5 is next to the Analog Input Module and can be a 24 Volt D.C. Power Supply, PFJ-PU2U, or a Relay Output Module, PFJ-T081U. If this is the 24 Volt D.C. Power Supply then this module uses no I/O addresses. If this were a Relay Output Module then it would be addressed as Outputs 220 to 227.

6. If there were any additional I/O modules in the Hut PLC System these would be addressed as Outputs 230 to 237.

7. Odd numbered Modules, 1, 3, and 5, are mounted on the top of the expansion backplates. Even numbered modules, 2, 4, and 6, are mounted on the bottom.

8. To determine what Hut PLC program is in use Internal Relays 2400 to 2417 need to be monitored using a laptop computer or the Hand Held Program Loader/PROM Burner. The section of this manual titled Site List identifies the program name in use by monitoring what Unique Program Internal Relay is energized. Only one bit from 2400 to 2417 will be energized and this is used to identify the PLC Hut program in use. These include ATTNJ1, KS7NJ1, KS7NJ2, KS7PA, NJ2AC1, NYNEX1, etc.
