We are a local firm that was started in 1958 by Dick Hyland. The company name was changed in 1996 from Hyland Associates, Inc. to Hyland Automation Controls, Inc. to closely reflect the market we serve in New England. We have a branch office in Central Massachusetts that covers Connecticut, Vermont, Western and Central Massachusetts. We also have a branch office located in Southern New Hampshire that covers New Hampshire, Maine, and Northeastern Massachusetts.
We are different from a traditional manufacturers' representative firm. We provide our clients with hands-on assistance on the plant floor solving their application problems. Because of this we have a more thorough understanding of our products and how they can solve a client's power or control problem. We hope this web site provides some insight to those that are unfamiliar with our services. For example, please visit the Technical Support section of our web site and you will find application assistance that is usually not available elsewhere on the internet or in product manuals. We try to show how to use the products from the companies that we represent and we are using the internet as a tool to do this since it is available to our clients 24 hours per day. In addition we are "on-call" on weekends through the use of Call Forwarding and email. We do not spend our time flying around the country looking for potential manufacturers for us to represent. Our time is spent here in New England servicing our clients needs.
The manufacturers we represent normally determine what is the best way for them to get their products into the market. Many of them sell their products through electrical and/or specialty distributors. We have a network of these distributors throughout New England that we work with. The distributor offers the advantage of local stock for those who purchase standard products on a consistent basis or use a blanket or scheduled purchase order with the distributor providing local inventory according to the terms of the distributor/client agreement.
Many of the products that we represent are configured or programmed from a personal computer using software from the manufacturer of the product. We are proficient in using their software and in fact serve as a beta test site for them, providing feedback on desired changes before the software is released to our clients. We do not want to just sell a product but are
there to diagnose and solve client's problems. We want our clients satisfied with the products they purchase and will do what wecan to ensure satisfaction.
We are a multi-person rep. agency, therefore there is more than one person available to answer your questions and service your needs locally. Our territory does not extend beyond New England for any of the companies that we represent. We have a smaller territory than most factory representatives working on their own, so we can devote the time our clients need to select the right product for their needs. We never have a vacation shutdown with no one available to assist you. We also schedule our individual vacations on a staggered basis so someone is available when you need them.
